Orient Baby Triton aka the watch that has no name….

So, this is new watch #3 since joining the WC just shy of 180 days ago. This watch coughs my eye shortly after it’s release in 2020, but I held off until now. I noticed a sudden drop in the Amazon Canada list price and a message from the seller indicating that they not had one until left. That was all I needed to pull the trigger on another “affordable entry-level automatic watch.

Most of the reviews I checked out over the past few years had a lot of good things to say about this watch, but critised the large size as well as the rattle of the hollow endlinks on the bracelet variant. As the brass or rose gold plated version I bought comes on a NATO strap, the only relevant con was the size. This is not a problem for me.

I’ll agree that the case is a bit top heavy, but the 50.6 lug to lug and 43 mm dimaiter look pretty perfect with my between 6.5 to 7 inch wrist. I think that the 4 o’clock crown position has a lot to do with it. If the crown was at 3, I may be forced to agree with the others.

The colour of the case is very different than what I expected. It doesn’t look like rose gold or brass, so it’s going to be tough finding matching hardware on any aftermarket bands. All-in-all, think it was a good buy and great value. It’s a welcome addition to my collection.

Any one else scope up one othe these Orient dive style watches? Or , considering picking one up?

I’m all ways checking out Orient’s divers. I think the one you got may put me over the edge on getting one just like it. Beautiful watch! Congratulations!

Thanks Nicely,

No peer pressure, but I’m really liking the look of the 4 o’clock crown position and the fact that this model has a sapphire crystal.

And, to add a bit of a twist, the bezel action on this model is a extremely satisfying. This comes as a bit of a surprise as Orient watches aren’t known for great bezel action.

Happy hunting!

I agree. This watch really needs a cool name. It kind of gets lost in the shuffle without one.
