SOTC update: Goodbye Tsar Bomba, hello Ciga Design and Seiko Presage!

I finally pulled the trigger on what has been a "grail watch" since basically day one: The Seiko Presage Cocktail Time, version "blue moon" with the deep blue sunray dial and a stainless steel bracelet!

Despite its minor flaws (bracelet feels cheap and rattles, hollow end links, crystal is only hardlex, movement used is the 4R35 which is basically the branded version of the mass-produced NH35), the dial is of unmatched quality and both the indices and hands look absolutely stunning.

A few weeks prior, I made the decision of selling my Tsar Bomba and buying a Ciga Design Z series in its stead.

Not only is the Ciga Design lighter and smaller, thus substantially more wearable than the bulky Tsar Bomba, it also comes with an actual skeletonized automatic movement for "just a few dollars more". The hands are a bit less legible overall, but I'm willing to trade legibility for convenience in this case.

Don't worry, the Duka DJ homage isn't going anywhere, it just moved to my watch roll and is now sitting next to the PD-1701 and PD-1733. The latter is a really well-made Milgauss homage that receives a lot of wrist time lately. That teal sunburst dial combined with the orange bolt hand makes for a perfect summer watch!

The Seiko is a looker. I have always appreciated the Cocktail Time line of watches.

Thank you! The model no. of the Citizen is NH8390-20LE. It's from the recently released C7 series, a homage to Citizen's "Crystal Seven" from the 60s. I swapped its cheap leather strap for an aftermarket Kai Tian jubilee from Amazon. 😉👍

Thanks! Me too, I was drawn to the Presage Cocktail Time from the moment I started collecting watches. That dial is just out of this world! 🤩
