Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
As a kid: A Flik Flak watch.
When starting the collection: A very cheap Seiko 5, which I sold because it was too small for my wrist.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
My G-Shock DW-003. I found it in a forest just outside of Vienna, 21 years ago. It was just lying on the forest ground, I even looked around to see if someone was nearby, but couldn't see anyone. So I picked it up and went back home. Unfortunately, the battery was dead and I was too young to change it. So I promised myself to repair it one day. About 20 years later, I finally managed to open it up and change the battery. The watch is now working perfectly fine, I love wearing it because it's an absolute blast from the past!
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Quality over quantity. You don't need a huge collection with 20 or more watches, that are just collecting dust inside your watchbox. Instead, try to focus on the ones you really want, and if they're over your budget, save up some money instead of getting cheap substitutes.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Baume & Mercier and Frederique Constant. Totally underrated outside the enthusiast bubble!
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
The AP Royal Oak. I LOVE integrated bracelets, and this watch is like the epitome of this subcategory!
