From 10 watches to “One watch collection”
I have a small watch collection of 9-10 watches. I have become very interested in the idea of "one watch collection" - And I have some watches that could do that for me. Tudor Ranger, but probably mostly Rolex Explorer 1.
I have also found some cheaper, such as Smiths Everest PRS-25, Lorier Falcon III. But I have considered building my own watch. I have previously build a watch that looks a bit like a Datejust. So I've tried it before.
So thinking about selling off my watch collection eventually. Buy this setup (as in the picture) so I get an Explorer 1 similar watch. From here I will save up for a real Rolex Explorer 1.
Does that sound like a stupid idea? I could possibly make a video/pictures when I assemble the watch. If anyone wants to see it?

I have always wanted to have a go at making my own watch. And the Explorer 1 seems like a good place to start. Would you not prefer a no date complication movement like NH36 so you don't have a ghost date position on the crown, or is there a reason you have to use that movement? These sorts of questions are the reason I keep putting off trying to start modding or building my own

It took my about 3 hours making the first Watch. And its good to have a strada hand. But I think you should go for it! 😊👍🏻
I only took the NH35 because its cheap and I have worked with it before. Its as simple as that 😅 And the ghost position is not a problem for me.

That is the Big question 🙈 But I would sell then over time. So I am sure that I won’t miss them. But also I really really like the idea of “one watch”. One to use for to go in the garden, go to work, go for dinner, go to a party and so on.
If you can do it, more power to you.
That genie been outta the bottle for a long time in my case and it's unlikely to get back in.
