Happy 55th Anniversary Seiko 5 Sports.
I was taking my time in getting this limited edition Seiko 5 Sports 55 Anniversary watch (SRPK17). It’s a re-creation of the first 5 Sports from 1968. Exact same case dimensions, bezel, dial and even the box. There are quite a few positive reviews and videos out there to tempt anyone but I still took my time for one reason — to learn true patience. It was self training to curb that hype induced impulse buying habit under the guise of a limited edition watch. After all, it’s a 15,555 limited edition (unlike that NON limited Blancpain x Swatch that I DIDN’T queue up for). Ultimately my training paid off when my true patience told me it was time (pun intended) to get it. I ordered it 3 days ago with a 30% off retail. Got it yesterday but was a little busy to do anything with it
Anyway, whatever the reviews say, they are all true - 39.5mm diameter, 12.5mm thickness, recessed 4mm tiny crown at 4, 150g, red lollipop seconds hand, framed day date window and a bi-directional friction bezel, It wears great and comfortable as hell. All expectations checked. My biggest joy (not told in any of the reviews out there or so I last checked) is the bracelet does NOT use the dreaded pin and collar system. So resizing didn’t require a magnifying glass or loupe, tray and tweezers. What a joy.
