So... I needed to replace the capacitor in my Sieko Kinetic and didn't want to pay a couple hundred dollars like I have in the past. Watched a few vids and though... "Shoot! I can do that!"
Getting the back off was a piece of cake. In the picture above I'm pointing to the capacitor. Taking the rotor off, no problemo. Removing the teeny, tiny, miniscule screws over the capacitor cover, a bit trickier but, doable.
Once I got the old capacitor out, I thought, just flip it and reverse it...
Turns out.. having old a$$ eyes, is not suitable for putting teeny, tiny, miniscule parts BACK. I am happy to say though, with the help of my wife (she held my flashlight so I could crane my neck around looking for the perfect reflection so I could see the head of the screw 🤣) I was successful in getting it replaced.
Would I do it again?
NOPE.

Wow looks at least to me very ALIEN like watch. Love it very unique. 😌
I have a kinetic as well and kept it for 20 years+ as it belongs to my grandfather's. Since you showed it, I might want to give it a try and change it myself. Even though it may be tedious, the good part is that you can have fun and gain experience by doing it yourself.

I exaggerated a bit. It's actually pretty easy the issue is my eye sight. If I had some kind of magnifier it would have been much easier.
Great post! I have at least 4 Seiko kenetic w/dead capacitors waiting for the treatment lol. Good work, sir! 👏💪

In the post I said I would never do it again, however, if I were to purchase some sort of magnifier to help my aging eyes, I would. It wasn't really that difficult and the new Seiko part was only $25 on Amazon.

Thats awesome you say that! I was going to recommend a 3x or 6x loop. No particular brand, whatever you find that you like is perfect. Or even reading glasses from walgreens/cvs work great! 🤙

Is there something I can wear over my prescription glasses?
A head mounted jewelers loop should work

That watch looks so cool! How does the indicator work? Also how does the hand tick?

The hand ticks normally. The indicator from 12 to 6 (bar colored red, yellow and blue) indicates the amount of charge. When the seconds hand gets to 12 push the top pusher and it sweeps around to the current charge level. Pretty cool, I think.

Perfect! Thank you 👍
