Six Months On - Panerai Luminor Due

Disclaimer: This weekend would be a spam weekend, and mentioned at the start of the long Easter weekend post. If you've had enough of me, save it this read for when you need something to distract you from daily life ๐Ÿ˜

Thoughts

The Buying Experience.

Seems like yesterday, that I finally took that step into the world of Panerai. It took a full year of research before even entering the shop. Reading up on the history, the models and specs.

Finally it came time to try and I wasn't locked on a specific model. I even had a poll as I really had no inkling which way to go.

But it's true what people say, try it on and you'll know. And indeed I did.

This Luminor Due got me and didn't let go. I took another 3 weeks to really decide. I came back to the shop 3 times more before deciding to purchase. And even then the SA was very patient with me. And even tried to find the best numbered watch for me. Needless to say, it was one of the best services received in a boutique. Not to mention the nice Italian prosecco and panettone served when you visited.

The Daily Wear

This watch is conversation starter. First you get the wow from the red strap, a closer look at the champagne dial gives it the grace that pulls the whole watch together.

The choice of strap sizes as soon as you buy the watch is an added bonus, as you don't get that extra strap leather peeking out.

It's not heavy at all, it is the designated Monday watch, and Mondays are hectic. I barely can feel the watch but it is also not insignificant that you feel it's not worth the hefty price tag.

I've heard some comments about the water resistance of this model. But from my teeny tiny wrist, this 38mm is the best from the brand (I draw the line at 45mm watches ๐Ÿ˜‚) and the low WR doesn't bother me. I don't dive, nor can I, so if I can wash my hands with it and it gets se drips, it's fine ๐Ÿ˜‰

Readability is at par, it is legible in all light and angles, so is the lume. Honestly no complaints.

As for wear and tear, there have been no visible scratches and I don't baby this watch. I mean I do ๐Ÿ˜„ but not like that ๐Ÿ˜‚

Changing the strap to a different colour, gives this a different feeling, liking having multiple watches.

The Verdict

I would purchase this watch again for sure. I'd probably only change to the extra strap I got to a shiny one still, rather than the matte that I picked.

Style โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

Comfort โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

(that's just my teeny wrist nothing to do with the watch)

Legibility โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ

Price โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ซ (it could be a bit less)

This is one watch that will stay a staple in my collection for sure and that's the weekend ramble part II.

This watch on the red strap on you is my favorite. Itโ€™s such a sexy watch because it just screams confidence

Side note: itโ€™s not my favorite watch in your collection. But my fav on you if that makes sense. It completes the fit

Welcome #paneristi ๐Ÿ’ช

And as for the WR argument ๐Ÿ˜ก This watch will never grace the wrist of someone wearing neoprene. It is the argument of idiots who are haters on Panerai anyway. And who also buy 1000m WR divers to wear to work in drizzle.

Excellent colour way, excellent choice. Beautiful watch. Shows you are an independent thinker ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Congrats, love Panerai, I have the Luminor PAM1313 44mm. When I first bought it I went nuts on straps, they are so fun to strap swap and so easy. I bought a couple OEM straps and extra thumbnail bucks which are really expensive and really nice...

One of the best straps that I wear the most with it is DaLuca, they make 2 peice NATO straps that are so rad and US made, I probably have over 10 in different colors, they are like $35 but so much better than the cheap Chinese $10 ones.

I always hear people whining about the 30m water resistance on the Luminor Due, but that's all BS, your not gonna dive in it but you totally could. Panerai tests every watch to triple it's rated depth, so 30 meters is plenty for anything you would ever do including beach and swimming.

Thanks for talking through your process and buying experience, Ace. It's a pretty watch, the Sub dial adds interest, and Panerai offer a look that's hard to replicate elsewhere so they're always interesting. ๐Ÿ˜
