Q: How did you get into watch collecting?
I have loved watches since I first learned how to tell time, but I was always a 1 watch guy. About 10 years ago, I bought my first “luxury” Automatic (Oris Aquis) and I fell down the rabbit hole. Love the hobby, brings me joy.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
When I was 5, I got a Star Wars Return of the Jedi digital watch. Had Ewoks on the dial, I still own it and it still works!
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
When my wife and I were shopping for wedding rings, she offered to buy me a watch. I picked out a quartz Tag Heuer Aquaracer. The most expensive watch I had ever owned at the time. I wore it everyday for 8 years, I still own it and it works great!
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
TAKE YOUR TIME!!! There are so many brands and models, figure out your budget and what type of watches you truly enjoy. It’s all about what you like, take some direction or advice from the talking heads but ultimately it’s up to you. Other peoples opinions should not dictate your style…What makes YOU smile!
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
I know this is a generic answer but I truly fell in love with Rolex the first time I saw one, I was 8. My latest purchase was a Tudor (BB58), they have amazing quality for a 1/3 of the price of a Rolex. I also recently bought a few Seiko Turtles, my favorite model.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
I have 3: -Rolex Daytona 116520 (Steel bezel, Black Dial) The most beautiful watch I have ever seen, pure perfection. - Rolex Day-Date 36mm 118238 (Champagne Dial) Huge Sopranos fan, wanted Tony’s watch the second I saw it on TV. Who doesn’t want to feel like a Mob Boss. - Any Patek 🙏Maybe if I win the lottery
