Tudor Pelagos 39 IN DA HOUSE!

Tudor Pelagos 39 is IN DA HOUSE! This is a VERY different watch, and a cool new take on the tool watch Pelagos style!

Here’s a few thoughts on my first few hours with this piece:

  • The watch dimensions are near perfect. I was concerned it would fit a bit small like BB58 did for me, but it still feels substantial on the wrist without feeling overpowering.
  • The case and bracelet are very well finished, although not sure how I feel about the full titanium build, guess I’m just used to steel so much more now it feels strange wearing an all titanium watch (I ended up selling my ProPilot X because of this 😅)
  • The bezel is SHINY! Wow! I did not expect this level of flash from a Pelagos! For some moments I feel like I’m looking at a no date sub! The brushing is a nice touch, but I almost wish they had gone full glossy as it’s already half of the way there.
  • The dial‘s sunburst finish is very subtle, but still noticeable. It definitely lends to the less tool, more lifestyle oriented nature of this watch. I’m not sure everyone is going to love this detail, but I don’t mind it.
  • The block lume markers are beautiful. I’m glad they didn’t go fauxtina with these. The red “Pelagos” printing evokes the Rolex Sea-Dweller and is a nice vintage touch.

I’m not sure if I plan to keep this one long term, as I really would have preferred a blue color variant of this watch. But I think once you factor in the dimensions, excellent MT5400 COSC caliber, and the fact that you can change up the watch with the rubber strap, I think there‘s a lot to like here! Did Tudor NAIL it? Is this the PERFECT Pelagos? I guess time will tell, but there’s no doubt this is a quality timepiece and a nice evolution in the Pelagos line to becoming the more accessible modern diver for all. Thanks for reading!

Nice review sir. This is one I am going to have to get hands on with before I can make a final decision. your review though has given me a lot of hope. I agree a blue would be more inline with the 9401 Tudor sub of my dreams. Topped off with an in-house cosc movement damn there is a lot to in pack there.
