Marriage watches

Stumbled on these watches, does anyone have any history on a Marriage watch?

A marriage watch is a timepiece that has 'married' an older object. Basically it is a pocket watch converted into a wristwatch, combining an original movement with other original parts and/or non-original parts.

Most likely has an Omega pocket watch movement with a recreated dial to fit a watch case.

Controversial subject.

I would have bought one a long time ago,all massive thought 😬some look amazing, engraved movements 👍

I'd like one tbh, I'm not a stickler for originality on old watches, as long as they're running ok & look decent. Just a matter of finding one that's the right size .

I used to know a collector who purchased pocket watches, which is certainly more compelling field for a horologist. He and a friend also had a fascinating sideline where they chose appropriately sized women’s pocket watches with either gold or silver cases had a jeweler eliminate the cover, created lugs attached sold as collectible very early vintage timepieces with desirable brands such as Omega, Rolex and Longines. Collectible or fraud? More than 30 years later, I suppose if the buyer were told before a deal was completed, should be fine but I remain conflicted.

I think they are gorgeous however just to big… if you can rock it. Go for it!
