Watch repairers/makers help

OK, first off, I'm poorer than poor, so I try to do as much to things myself as I can. That said, I have an older model Invicta (I know, but stay with me) that has a problem that I can't figure out. I've contacted several watch repair places near me, and they all only do fine watches. So I'm left with sending it to Invicta for possible service.

Now, I have another option. I can get a replacement movement, and more importantly the updated movement that they now use in this model, for as much as it would cost me to send the watch to Invicta and have them just assess it...not even fix it.

My question. How hard would it be for a guy that is sorta mechanically inclined, has watched a bunch of watch repair videos on youtube, and has a set of small screwdrivers to replace a movement? It doesn't seem that hard as long as the new movement fits, which it should.

At most, I'm out of a watch that I like, but doesn't run right so what's the point...and a few bucks.

Well if it s a straight swap I think it‘s not bad…but For the price of a new movement  and the arduous task sometimes you Are better off with a new watch…Also keep in mind that’s a new updated movement so at times it might not fit exactly so you have to do some modifications either on the dials or hands and the pinion either is short or longer depends (just learned this btw last night on the new Seiko 5 gmt movement that the pinion is slightly taller or shorter I forget) having said that the hands you might have to change… as much as I like to mod watches for this case…get a new Invicta!
