What watches have you lost to time? Or recovered? Or rediscovered?

Growing up I remember my grandma taking me out to buy my first watch: a Victorinox Cavalry Small with a black dial. This little 30mm watch fit my tiny wrist perfectly as a kid. I loved looking at the lume hour marker dots and hands at night before going to bed. And thought it was so cool to wear an "Army" watch! For the longest time I thought I had lost this little watch. But just this past weekend my parents came up to visit their grandson. And they had found a particular box in some of my old stuff!

What watches have you lost, thought were lost, or even recently rediscovered?

I haven't personally found and lost watches but that was a cool story. How old were you when you got it? Seems nowadays most kids aren't really into wearing watches. Cool first watch btw.

I just checked the booklet and it says it was purchased in 1997!

I am not sure what happened to it, but my first nice "real" Swiss watch (not counting my Swatches as a kid) a Victorinox officers field watch I bought in college. I wore it for years, eventually getting a second Victorinox I still have, but have misplaced the first. It's probably in some box somewhere in storage. I wish I knew.

I still have three Victorinox renegade watches. Black, Blue, and green. One of them stopped working.

The crystal and case are a little scratched up. The strap is missing a loop (I think), but definitely in good enough shape to hand down to my son for his first watch!

Here's the Citizen my Grandfather gave me back in the 80s that I found in a drawer a while back. Haven't gotten around to repairing it yet.

Just happens to be flanked by two recent acquisitions stemming from my nascent interest in Xantia-era Swiss Army watches (how'd that happen! 😉)

27 years later, and the lume is just about shot. Shining a bright LED on it brings it back for about 2 seconds before it's too dark to see in all but a pitch black room.

That is a great rediscovery, digging that tapestry dial! And also, is this thread just becoming a Victorinox appreciation thread?
