Unexpected wedding watch?!

I’m piecing together our wedding and one of those pieces is a watch. A dressy piece to commemorate with that I could also wear for other occasions.

Last month we travelled to Vienna, Austria and during our shopping period, one of our travel buddies told us that he wanted to take home a watch. He went to Bucherer and started looking around. He was undecided so he called us there for some opinions and so we did.

While there I started thinking to get one for myself too, initially wanting a GMT for when next we travelled. Grand Seiko’s area got my attention because its the smallest and least overwhelming. Then I saw the Taisetsu and right then and there I realised and told myself that this would be the perfect wedding watch!

So our buddy and I went back to our hotels with a Panerai and a Grand Seiko.

I also found out that the Grand Seiko booth is the smallest because Bucherer have just started to become its AD about a month earlier.

Wearing it for the rest of the day I was not happy with the bracelet and diminished what I had in mind when I think and feel of a dress watch.

So the next day while touring around the city I was out hunting for a leather watch strap too. Since I’m in Austria I wanted to get a strap made in the country so I was dead set on getting a Hirsch.

It was a Sunday so most shops are closed and and the 21mm lug width made it very hard to find one.

Losing hope and taking a break from going around the city we happened to be back in the center and beside Juweliere Ellert. I took a shot and low and behold they had one! In fact they really only had one in a 21mm lug width. So I got it!

And so my semi unexpected journey of getting a wedding watch, a Grand Seiko Taisetsu in a black crocodile leather strap, came to a close.

Now for the rest of the wedding details… 😅

That’s a great story! The black strap completely changed the look of the GS and has made it more “wedding appropriate”! Congrats on a beautiful watch and best wishes on your big day 🤙❤️

Congratulations on the wedding and the new time piece 🎉. I think GS is the perfect wedding Watch tbh. My vote is to get it on that black leather strap. Both look great but the black let’s the watch stand out and present it self more as a focal point. ✌️😊

Every GS I've seen looks immaculate on a strap. Think it really allows the finishing and design to "pop" as they say.
