How i've built up my collection and what's next?

After putting 2 cheap Skagens and a Fossil plus a Citizen (which I still wear sometimes) to the drawer, I decided to build a desirable collection for myself from scratch. And now I almost have everything I need. Since i'm using my watches mostly as accessories that complete my overall look and outfit, i've always been so specific and sharp about what I need for my next watch.

Before I started to build my collection, my wife gifted me an awesome looking dress watch from Claude Bernard. With a creamy silver sunburst dial and a just 10mm thick gold PVD case and a great automatic movement. I loved it. So even before I started to build the collection, I already had a golden watch which I don't need to take a look anymore in the close future.

Here's my journey:

1. I decided to start with a life-long (likely passing through generations) watch that has everything and suitable for every outfit and condition. And I've put a budget limit 2000EUR.

Decreased the options into two, Nomos Clubsport 39mm and Longines Spirit both white dials. Took both of them to my hands in the same shop and went out with the Longines by paying 1770EUR with a great 13% discount.

2. Was searching for a sunburst green dial since i'm mostly wearing green in all seasons. Auto movement, with proper water resistance for water sports, great lume, not too big, good built quality. Set the budget to 1000EUR. Because of the budget limit i decided to go to the Seiko Boutique Amsterdam, because for me the only other green option I could buy was a PRX which is almost a black dial instead of a green and was not a sunburst for the automatic one. I've seen the SPB245J1 and loved it immediately and bought it with a 12% discount for 650EUR in total.

3. Now it was the time for a blue one. Which is also my third preferred color for outfits. Up to 1200EUR budget. I wanted sth. different, sth. unique but should be still capable for every condition. Again automatic with a great water resistance, lumes etc. And my mind spinned me to the PRX again immediately. Even though it is a very sexy and a good looking watch, it is not unique anymore and it is reachable anytime. And suddenly found out there are one hand watches. That was sth. different! MeisterSinger Metris Blau, with a 12% discount again for 1192EUR with 2 original straps.

4. After a while, I've seen that I'm wearing black much more than I thought because I'm mostly working from home and had lots of home outfits in black. So started to look for a proper black dial for my needs, a little bit sportier, good water resistance again, with some lume, automatic again etc. And the budget was 1000-1200EUR. After lots of researches, I was almost sure that it will be a Christopher Ward. However, when i took 2 of the models I could buy from CW to my hands. Somehow (maybe I had my Longines Spirit with me that day as a comparison item) I couldn't be sure. The week after that I've checked the Longines Conquest and again I went out with it from the shop without any compromise and again with a %10 discount for 1050EUR.

5. I'm mostly keeping my watches inside a PU leather carrying box and it is inside my drawer. When i decide to put one of the watches to my wrist on that day, I mostly need to adjust it but usually my phone is far away from me. So I guess as Teddy said, everyone needs a quartz somehow. And for that I wanted something fun, extremely durable and as cheap as possible. After a short thinking, why not a G-Shock! Started to look for the model that can suit best to my needs. Since I'm mostly wearing green, a green dial would be nice. And I can buy a gold pvd Royal conversion mod for it than I'll have an extremely durable gold pvd green dial watch which I can easily wear at seaside too. It was pretty specific and clearly expresses me. And bought it again with multiple discounts for 140EUR. (I'll probably buy the mod as well which will cost me 75EUR)

So what's next?

I also wear burgundy too often. A Ball with a burgundy dial or a Farer or a Longines? Hmm sounds nice to me.

Or sth. else?

Other than that, I'm not sure currently. But maybe, just maybe a creamy/champagne dial which both me and my wife can use. I'm not sure since Spirit White dial also fits perfectly with the cream, light brown outfits.

You tell me, what I need more?

All my main watches are capable of water sports or swimming, most of them can also be used as dress wathes with proper bracelets or straps which I have tons of, I have all the colors I need. Except a burgundy dial for sure. Which will again have good water resistance, great lume etc.

What a great collection you got there 😱🤩

The farer is really beautiful but as I'm also in love for a LLD, I'll say go for this one 😅

But I may not be impartial ...

I would say you need that Farer 😅 and that would be your Chronograph. I also think you should get a real nice diver. You have two Longines already, so I would suggest the Longines Hydroconquest, since the company is your bread and butter. Unless you want to go another direction.

Whenever I put a Longines as an option for what I want to buy, I'm mostly going with the Longines. Between those three, i love how Farer looks, that awesome british color plays, Ball with its extravagant but classy looking but LLD, that watch is a real heritage watch, it is already a classic. I'm not sure but as I said, Longines wins it for me most of the times 🙈

Awesome watches (both of them) and I was about to buy the HC 39mm green dial silver/gold (pvd) bracelet version again with a whopping 20% discount. But suddenly I felt like I don't need a diver. Not yet!  Because except the Spirit (which is also 100M) all my daily watches have 200M WR and it is clearly enough for me to swim in the pool or sea :) . So just for a diver look, I will wait for it when I really want or need one and it would be a special piece :) But most probably with a inner rotating bezel. Something like Farer Hecla, the new Ball watch they've announced, or most probably a Longines Legend Diver etc. :)

To be honest, It was also a rule for me, only one watch from one brand. But as i've said, Longines does sth. to me every time :D

·

If Tissot decides to add a non-waffle pattern (preferably sunburst) automatic PRX with a burgundy dial, I'll most probably won't think about it for a second :)

Cool post 😎

congrats on a nice, thoughtful collection.

You've got some great pieces there. Aside from color coordination, are there any regular occurrences in your life that would require a complication, such as a GMT because your travel?

Hi Mike, not at all. Especially GMT one. Only, I'm keeping the time between Netherlands and Turkey which my parents still live in. But it is quite basic, just adding 2 hours :) And I've never felt like i need to take a look to somewhere for this :) I find understanding the GMT hand is much more complex for me :D I'm not following the position of the moon at all, because I'm mostly already get the position days before for photography stuff etc.

Only thing I like is the chronographs. It is playfull

That Longines Conquest is awesome.  Is it a fairly new release?

Actually I guess it is pretty old, a marketing guy from Longines store told me that they're about to renew the conquest, without changing the design generally but improving the features a little.

both of them look amazing. really. but i somehow don't have the connection to GS at all. And i'm also looking a proper wr, lumed hands, under 12mm thickness etc. Both those seikos dont talk to me unfortunately🥹

This looks interesting and i sort of liked the design

Sounds like you've answered your question then. I'd go with the maroon chronograph that you're looking at

And they did a few months ago. New Conquests are incredibly good.
