The watch that started it all. What was yours?

The Casio W756-1BV is no longer in production. I first bought mine in 2015 after doing tons of research just looking for the perfect watch since I wasn't a watch wearer. My requirements were that it needed to have a full day, date and time all on the dial at once as well as having programmable and repeating timers. This had just that and more. I was just getting into fitness and having a watch collection was the last thing on my mind. To me, a watch should have been all about function and this watch proved to be what I was looking for. After 2 years of hard daily use, I literally never took it off my wrist...

Except one day, a very important event in my life saw me take my watch off and forget it where I was. After driving back home for some hours, I realized I had left it but it was too late. I had to replace it with watch after watch since nothing could fill it's void. At that point, the watch stopped being made and price had gone up. I was soon the owner of 2 dozen watches! Thus my watch collection was born. 😅

Over the years though, I have bought more W756's. A red version that was turned pink over time and this black one that I wear now. I know there is a rare silver version with a bracelet too. If you've never seen any of them, I highly recommend them. It still remains my favorite watch to this day. Funny to think that if I had never lost it, I would still be a one watch person and not a collector.

Anyone have a similar story? Did you become a watch collector by accident? Lmk

Mine was the transformer robot watch when I was a kid

Seiko Yacht Timer - mid 80s when I got it. My high school buddy got a black seiko chronograph I thought was the coolest ever and I had to emulate 😂

It was a sailing chrono I killed by diving off a sailboat several years after I got it. Lesson learned: chronos and ocean should not mix despite what the WR says.

Still keep the empty case in my desk 🙂!
