First watch

My first watch was given to my by my Godfather at the age of twelve. I still Cherish it to this day and it still works after forty-four years.

Does anyone know when a watch would be considered a vintage piece?

Who still has their first watch?

I'd certainly consider that Longines to be vintage - very nice looking watch BTW. I think most people consider vintage to be at least 20 years old, although others consider 40 years to be the cutoff - in any event, that would fit the bill.

I don't have the very first watch I ever owned, but I do have an old Timex that I had as a young teenager in the early 70s. Unfortunately it no longer works, but it's still a cherished keepsake.

I also have an old Seiko that my wife gave me as an engagement present in 1980, and it still runs and keeps great time.

Nice pieces would you have an interest in polishing that glass on the Timex?

The Seiko is in great shape!

The crystal on the Timex appears to possibly be cracked. I'm not usually one of those people that appreciates the wounds and scratches that accumulate over the years, but with this watch I can understand those sentiments, and like the fact that it shows its age.

I'm quite surprised at how well the Seiko held up, considering that it was my only watch for several years, so it's seen an awful lot of wrist time.
