Tried out the DIY Watch Club - Aged Edition

I love vintage watches and have a few but wanted the combo of a big chunky diver with vintage vibes.

My wife purchased me one of the DIY Watch Club’s Diver Mystery Bag. I wasn’t thrilled with the dial, hands or bezel insert so I thought it would be a perfect time to try to age these components.

Luckily DIY not only encourages this but also provides videos on how to do this. I used the coffee aging for the hands and dial and was thrilled with the results. Chapter ring sat in bleach for a few days to fade it (might have left it too long). Bezel insert saw some intimate friction with some gravel and rocks in a jar as well as a few dozen cycles of ultraviolet sun tanning sessions in my Sonicare toothbrush UV cleaner. Really like the way it turned out!

The case and bezel are just too pretty to beat up right away. I’ll wear it a bit then wait for the first big scratch before I purposely age the case and bezel.

I am going to order some 22mm straps and age a few of those to get a more wholesome package.

What I really like about this kit is that it’s affordability and ease of build really allows you to get into the modding world at user friendly level. I will order some cool dials and hands that are NH34 compatible that will work well in this case.

Anywho, would love to hear any comments or questions you might have about the DIY product, my end result, or anything else.

Way to go, looks great!

Though I would have to agree the fade is a bit too strong on the chapter ring, for my tastes at least!
