Q: How did you get into watch collecting?
I would say the bug of “collecting” watches didn’t really hit me until after I attended my first Windup Watch Fair in NYC a few years ago, and I realized there were so many cool watches that I wanted on my wrist!
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
A white dialed Swatch with dark grey straps…it had a Joe Cool, understated monochromatic look. I still remember my Mom yelling at me for destroying it after an intense game of tag during recess.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
The first watch I really fell in love with was a quartz Festina (the official timekeeper of the Tour de France at the time), which was given to me by my parents as a Christmas gift. It had a black dial with yellow accents…very appropos as a nod to the Maillot Jaune. With Lance Armstrong’s record breaking dominance year after year, it only cemented my love for the watch even more. Even though he might’ve tarnished his reputation, it hasn’t tarnished my love for the watch.
