I picked up a Seiko 5 for Fathers Day this year as a gift from my family. It’s also a gift celebrating a new chapter in life as I got let go at my job, and I am starting a new one in a different landscape than my previous career choices. The smooth movement of the seconds hand really speaks to me in an artisanal kind of way. As a hobby I shoot film photography and there’s a beauty in fully mechanical peices of gear. I own a Leica M6 and it’s fully mechanical and doesn’t require any batteries to operate. I feel the same with this watch. I think the hook has set and I’m in this for the long haul.

Seiko is one of the strongest gateway drugs for Watch addicts. Welcome.
Nice Seiko. I like the idea of a new watch for a new chapter. Getting hooked on automatics isn’t bad either. Good luck on your new endeavor.
Great piece and welcome to the Rabbit hole! 🐰⛳

Thanks!
The Seiko magic. It will grab you and never let you go! Enjoy!
Welcome! Do you develop your own film? My daughter who is getting a BAofA in oil painting and photography just took a class where they had to develop their own film. She finally figured out why the editing software is called Lightroom! I gave her my old Pentax from the back of my closet to use in class. Now I’m trying to get her interested in watches, and she recently had to correct a classmate who was saying how easy it is to go to an AD and get a Rolex!

I have! Now that I have a couple of kids I just drop my film off to be developed 😂 I don’t got time to play keep away with chemicals and toddlers.
That’s awesome she’s using your old Pentax! It’s always a cool experience when you can use something that’s passed down!

But Seiko quartz and solar are not too shabby either.
