My Favorite Watches

I've been meaning to post photos of my favorite watches, the ones that I would say I truly love and can't stop looking at when I wear them.

The first picture shows them in favorite order from left to right, at least as of today.

There are days when I think the Seiko Luxe Presage with the Arita porcelain dial might be number one. I adore the dial, case, and am even very fond of the OEM padded leather strap. The thing that keeps it out of first place is mostly the relatively humble movement. It can't compare to the movements found in the Grand Seiko or the Breitling in precision, quality, and beauty. I've also been on a big manual wind kick lately, which increases my fondness of the Breitling and the Tissot.

The Cocktail Time would also be higher up, especially with the ostrich leather strap from The Strap Tailor, if it weren't for its even more humble movement. That watch is so beautiful for its price. Hard to believe how little it cost, even with the added cost of the strap.

Finally, there are many things I love about that bronze Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. First, of course, is the bronze, but I love that dial. I love the bourdeaux color, the cathedral hands, the pointer date, the sectors, and the font used for the numbers.

I had more pics to post, but I've hit my limit of 5.

I like seeing them from the back like that as it one can get a tiny insight into the engineering. Very nice collection. I like your choices. Thanks for sharing.

Respect for the Tissot!

That watch taught me so much about the workings of a simple manual-winding watch. It's also beautiful, and I have several straps for it (I hated the OEM one). I don't even mind how large the case is, given that it's due to the fact that the ETA movement traces its origin back to a pocket watch movement from the 1950s. The large size also makes it easier to see all the fascinating movement bits.

Wow. Awesome collection! Great pictures of the display casebacks - so cool to zoom in and view the different, yet beautiful artistry of each movement. The Grand Seiko Spring Drive is always a stunner (and my favorite of the group), and the Breitling Premier with the pale green (pistachio?) dial and manual chronograph movement is just 😍. The Seiko Presages are no slouches, of course and fit in well with the others. Cheers!

The Rado Captain Cook is one of those watches that I suspect I'll end up with eventually. I've come close to pulling the trigger on one a couple of times. However, this isn't even close to my entire watch collection, just my favorites. I do have a proper 300m dive watch with my Shinola Monster Lake Michigan. I'm not a big tool watch fan, though. I always have a Garmin on my right wrist. To me, "real" watches are fundamentally jewelry, so I tend to lean toward prettier and dressier watches.
