A PRX? No Please, give me a vintage Seiko Instead

A quite provocative heading to talk about this watch that I bought in 2019-2020, so a few months before the PRX craze started.

I'm taking about the Seiko Grand Quartz 9943-8020. A Watch that I consider like my own vintage Rolex Day date, even if considerable cheaper.

This model was the top of the line of Seiko in 1978, during the quartz Crisis. During those year there was no Grand Seiko , the best watches made by Seiko where all Quartz. This model was only surpassed by the Superior line. My particular model has Twin quartz for termo compensation (10 seconds per year time variance ar the time), sapphire Crystal, Hardened steel case, which explain why this watch looks crisp even though it's 8 years older than me. Heck, not even modern seikos have so much good technology Inside.

And that case, yes very reminiscent of the 70s, but you still trace the Tanaka's grammar of design in it's angular shapes.

I also love how the bracelet even if it's very simple by design, reflects the lights brilliantly and has a quite uncommon design. What happened to Bracelet design innovation? It's seems that today we only get to see oyster bracelet, jubilees and you go crazy, maybe an H-link Bracelet.

Anyway, is you like integrated Bracelet watches,, take a look a vintage seikos and Citizens, you may find a charming watch full of history waiting for you.

Have a great Saturday Crunchers 👑
