The new 35 mm PRX POWERMATIC

I'm so happy that they released the PRX POWERMATIC in 35 mm size.

I love my self a good PRX but sadly I've heard that the gears are made of plastic.

Any thoughts.

The Powermatic 80 movement, unless one of the top variants does include plastic parts.

I'm sure you mean engineering polymers.

This is a perfect case where ignorance is bliss.

Yeah, but still weaker than the usual metal alloys used in normal gears.

So overall, harder(and more expensive) to service or repair.

When mine stops working I’ll swap in an NH35.

The Seiko movement?

Yeah it made of plastic, not serviceable, disposable movement.

Yeah nh35 are reliable Seiko movement. Very popular inexpensive movement. Lots of micro brands use them.

Nh35 is 100% made out of metal and serviceable. It cheaper to buy a replacement than get it service tho. A lot cheaper.

Bad for the wallet and the environment.

I would expect more than a quality brand like Tissot.

The Seiko movement?

Yes. It was a joke.

I don’t love cheap parts, but I wonder if this isn’t a little overblown. Is this movement literally unserviceable? Swatch is selling a ton of them, it’s not hard to imagine them having parts for it should you want it serviced. And there’s no reason plastic parts can’t be replaced.
