An Unconventional Artefact

Yesterday I stumbled upon a unique watch design, something of the retro-futuristic style Farer has without forsaking its own bold personality.

What you immediatly notice is the distinctive shape of the 39.5mm case. It’s unusual, but not less elegant. A daring choice that many often lack. It features an specially designed integrated bracelet, that tapers from 22.5mm to 18mm. The links are relatively short, with good articulation and plenty of drop.

It was designed in Sweden, by a dreamer (just like all of us), through a long journey started in 2020! Four years of hard work and forty prototypes produced a classy and sporty watch, in eight color variations from the trendy aventurine to a dynamic combination of blue and orange. You can tell that the colors were carefully selected: they’re eye-catching and balanced.

The dial is broken up in two or three parts by two different finishes: sunburst and guilloche, an effect evocative of the classic “sector dial” design, that transform the light hitting it. It has hand applied arabic & stick indices and the brand’s signature hands, both legible in the dark.

It’s perfect for the spec’ hunters: a brushed 316L SS case with 800 HV scratch resistant coating, polished bezel, sapphire crystal with AR coatings, an integrated bracelet, slim 11.2 mm thickness, Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9, screw down exhibition caseback, Miyota 9039 movement with Geneva stripes and a skeletonized rotor. Truly a great value for the current price of $319. It’s a shame the water resistance is only 100m though, it’s not enough for scuba diving the Mariana Trench…

Feels like a GADA version of a #cartiercrash. Interesting design.

Just made my pledge! Thanks for the post, looks like a really cool watch!

Interesting

Yes! I've already backed this. But @Pedralwatches knocked it out of the park.

A wholly unique design language and excellent use of colour. Besides that I really appreciate his backstory. Truly shows how important persistence is during trying times. I would really like to see this kickstarter doing extremely well.

And since there's a bit of confusion on kickstarter here's his explanation on the aventurine tier (copied from kickstarter):

"Just a clarification: The €299 pledge exclusively offers the Aventurine Dial Watch and does not include the option to switch dials within this tier. This pledge is ideal for those particularly drawn to the stunning Aventurine Dial, offered at an exceptional price. For those seeking more variety, the €342 pledge not only secures the Aventurine Dial but also includes an additional seven dials, enhancing the collection's versatility with different styles. Moreover, achieving all our stretch goals will increase this selection to 14 dials, further broadening the options available at this pledge level. I hope this explanation is clear. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions.”
