Casio Duro (Marlin) REVIEW

I have been wearing this watch for almost 10 months now and I have to say this watch provides more than I paid for and expected. Got it for 75$ in June 2022 via Chrono24 and have been using it as my daily beater watch since.

FIT/WEAR/STRAP

It may feel a bit big (44mm diameter x 12mm height x 49mm lug to lug) and heavy (92 grams) on smaller wrists. It has a basic rubber bracelet which makes the watch wearable, but definitely can be better. It's fairly comfortable and easily adjustable. That's it. I changed it with a better one and immediately the watch became more wearable and as a result more often being worn.

MOVEMENT

Standart Casio 2784 Module (Quartz). Fairly accurate, adds maybe between 2-4 sec a week.

CASE/CROWN

Made of stainless steel with some brushed and some polished surfaces (e.g. the crown). The case back has all the relevant data (Reference number, water resistance, movement, cased, etc..) accompanied with the marlin logo. Handles all water activities from rain/washing hands to moderate diving. The screwdown crown does a great job at securing it.

DIAL/CRYSTAL/BEZEL

Crystal is hardened mineral glass which for the price I must say is a plus cause they could have easily went with a cheaper form of plastic. Mine has picked up a few scratches, but still very good. I'm greatly not concerned with that.

In case of the dial it has a great sunburst finish to it. Which you would not expect again for this watch price.

On the lume - it begins fading almost immediately and becomes almost invisible within a few minutes.

The bezel is solid. Good grip on it. The zero position is lumed.

FINAL THOUGTS

Great watch for that price point of below 100$ for a 20BAR Diver. It's a no-bulshit type of watch made to be used exactly for what it says. Absolutely no regret in buying it as it is getting a fair amount of wrist time (having pets and kids, i.e. water activities).

A wonderful, budget-friendly, beater watch!

Agree with everything you've said about the Casio Duro ... it's a great watch and an awesome value. I paid about $60 CDN several years ago and like yours it has a few nicks from everyday use that don't bother me in the slightest. Despite having only a 6+ish inch wrist, am surprised at how well my Duro actually fits and looks! Not too big at all 😀 I wear mine on the Casio bracelet and it's OK, but not great. A hair nipper actually! LOL!

Thank you for not making this a five star review in all categories.

Absolutely agree with your review. Good one. I too have a Duro and it's a beater for me especially when I go swimming. Not that it matters or life changing but Bill Gates wears a Duro too. 😜

The only change I would add to the Duro is a raised bezel to protect the crystal. A millimeter or two would go a long way to saving that glass.

Thanks for this review, I agree with all of your observations. I own a Duro in stainless and have it on a mustard Marine National strap, which I like very much. I am going to add a solid link SS bracelet to which I have seen makes this watch appear to be much more than it is. I paid $38 on Chromo24 for mine and love having it on the wrist.

I´ve already have a kink on the crystal... little but there at an angle.

I do believe the Miyota 2115 is the movement used in the Duro.

Is the Duro's mineral glass gets easily scratched? Thanks!
