I saw that a lot of “gentlemen” wore watches so I wanted to be like that.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Timex Expedition was my first quartz.
Seiko 5 SNKL45 was my first automatic.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
My first Seiko I bought to wear when I asked my wife to marry me. The first time I wore it was to that dinner. I have since sold I and honestly I do regret selling it.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Try cheaper watches to get an idea of what styles and specific things you like about a watch. Then do your research and save up to buy the watch you really want. Buying a bunch of medium price watches as fillers will cost more in the long run and not satisfy you the way the actual watch you want will. Also, don’t over stretch yourself. These higher end pieces are luxuries and shouldn’t come before responsibilities. Also, just have fun. It’s a hobby and shouldn’t be taken so seriously.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Tudor, if that isn’t obvious lol. But I have love for a lot of different brands. Seiko, Tissot, Nomos, Grand Seiko, etc.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Funny how things change. I used to have grails but now I’m not sure. I’m happy with my collection and I think over time my preferences will change and I’ll find a grail. For now just enjoying the ride!
