Recommendations for finding a rare watch

Hi everyone!

I could use some advice on how to locate a rare watch. I’ve tried on my own and have struck out. This watch, a limited edition Tag Heuer Aquaracer (WAY2119.BA0928), was produced in a single batch of 300 and only sold in Hawaii. As best as I’ve been able to determine it was in the early 2010’s.

As chance would have it, I saw one in person in the King of Prussia Tag store around 2014 but I didn’t know the significance of what I had in my hands nor was I in a position to purchase it 😢. It caught my eye because my wife and I honeymooned in Hawaii 20 years ago.

I have tried searching the web (most listings are old or sketchy), multiple ADs, and contacting Tag directly with no success. So now I’m looking to my fellow watch brothers and sisters to see if anyone has connections with particularly good sourcers who might be able to locate one.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I guess that site is sketchy? Must be if it takes 3 months to get it.

Seems sketchy to me, but maybe others have used them and can vouch for them. And yup, that’s the best photo I’ve found of it. There isn’t a whole lot of information to be found about this one, unfortunately.

Just keep active searches on all the major selling platforms. Maybe talk to some AD's in Hawaii in case one comes through them secondhand.

I talked to an AD in Honolulu and they were no help at all. They only seem to care about selling current models. No recommendations from them for local resellers that could keep an eye out for me. Seems I may need to try a specialized shop in Philly that seems to find really difficult to find pieces (albeit much more expensive and rare pieces, but the worst he can say is no).

I get it from their perspective. Still kinda sucks.

Good luck with your Philly guy. I'm rooting for you.

I’m happy to report that I was able to find one! Well, it was a company called Bezel that located it for me. I was shocked that they found one in a couple of days. It’s on its way to Bezel now for authentication, but I’m one happy camper 😁.

Https://www.getbezel.com if you haven’t heard of them. They are like Chrono24, but better (in my experience). Once I receive the watch I may post about how my buying journey with them played out.
