Logo Redesign - Orient Star

Honestly, there is nothing offensive about their existing logo. Just wanted a fun excuse to photoshop one of their watches… I did us all a favor and removed the open heart and power reserve from the dial. It’s so much better now, right? #NotAllHeroesWhereCapes

Open heart’s are a guilty pleasure of mine, but this is definitely cleaner now. Power reserves have a place, and that place is under the exhibition caseback.

With you, their logo doesn’t bother me either, but hot digiddy dog did you do them a favor. That’s a righteous looking logo.

It is better but I would suggest either making the Orient Star text smaller or just eliminate it at all. Also, at a quick glance, the new logo looks like the Star of David.

agree. it’s cleaner now and while the logo redesign looks good, you always have to be careful about star shapes as certain stars can have subtle and historical meaning. six pointed stars in particular can have unintended references.

overall the watch and logo redesign looks nice but losing the open heart and the general look of the new watch doesn’t strike me as an Orient style. it seems to have lost its Orient-ness. for some reason it just looks like a generic european micro brand now.

and i agree - lose the Orient Star word mark. if we’re doing a logo redesign let’s make one that’s so strong that the logo itself can stand on its own without requiring a word mark.

I never liked the Orient Star logo. I prefer yours quite a bit. With some minor tweaks, like losing the "Orient Star" text, it'll be almost perfect.

Nice design!

I'm probably one of the few people who dislike the S logo on the Orient Star (I like the regular Orient logo more, even if it looks like a cigarette brand)

·

I'm quite fond of the old S logo on the OStars... the regular Orient logo though, that's a bit of a travesty. After all, the S logo is the original one for the brand, and I'd hate to see it change.

The new logo reminds me of the Yamaha logo I’ve seen on old guitars. Yamaha and Orient…like two great Japanese companies joined forces.

I had completely forgotten the Yamaha logo but that is a great catch/connection. It’s a great mark in its own right, with the triple tuning forks constructed in a similar star pattern!

Looks like a ship's steering wheel from a distance, giving the watch an unexpected marine aestetic.
