Just received this Vostok in the mail. I love how it looks but this thing has some odd issues with the crown action. Not sure if it’s broken or if that’s just how these work. Can’t quick-set the date. Maybe that’s not supported? I can’t see how. Probably going to send it back for a new one. Got it on a website that imports these and ships from Florida.

They don't have quick set dates, but you can do the "roll back to 9-ish and then forward again" trick. Also, the wobbly crown is supposedly to protect the stem from shock while unscrewed.

Ok interesting, so it’s working as designed, I guess? It just seems the point where it goes from first crown position to the 2nd is… mushy and less than good. I found a it does have a hand winding position but then pulling it out to the time setting position is very… imprecise I guess? And there’s no hacking. And the crown wobbles all over the place like it’s missing the part that stabilizes it. But if this is how it’s supposed to be, I guess that’s ok LOL. I will just try not to use the crown much! I do like the look of the watch and it wears nicely. The rubber strap is smooth and comfortable and pretty decent. I’m afraid to put it on the timegrapher.

They're not super-refined, but they are quite robust. And can be a lot of fun! Enjoy! #vostok

Here's a trick I found when hand winding. Hold the watch so the crown is down. Unscrew and let it drop by gravity. Then you can wind all you like as long as you keep it crown-down.

Also, if you pull it to the second position to adjust hands and date, you can't hand wind until you screw down the crown and then unscrew it all over again.

It's a bit goofy but it works consistently that way.

The wobble is as unique to Vostok is the sound is to Harley Davidson. It’s a design or engineering creation that protects the stem. If it gets bumped, then it is protected. It’s smarter than I am capable of explaining here. However, there’s a lot of videos on YouTube that explain the wobble.
