My neighbour wanted me to buy her Ulysse Nardin watches

My neighbour recently passed away. His wife knew I was on the hunt for a retirement watch. She wanted me to buy her husband's watches. They're way out of my tax bracket. I told her that some of the higher end watch dealers in Vancouver BC might be interested. The dealers told her they can't buy them because she did not have the certificates for them. She doesn't know where the certificates are. She has them with their original boxes but does not know anything about the certificates. Anybody here have any advice how she could sell these?

I’d go on Chrono24. Biggest app in the world to trade watches. User friendly. I have sold an IWC Portuguieser a few months ago, from the UAE to the Netherlands. Process was smooth. Papers are not necessarily needed since we are not talking about Rolex or Patek in this case.

There’s always EBay as well

Sell a kidney? 😉👍🏻🤣

Another option is to drive a tank up to her front door and ask politely that they be handed over

I can't afford a tank either

If you choose the online sales route, check the commissions charged by chrono24 and eBay before committing.

Also, verify if watch sales are subject to taxation before selling another person's watch.

Good to know. Thank-you for the good advice.

As follow-up, my neighbor is trying to get ahold of her husband's grandsons from a previous marriage, and will give it to them. Unfortunate that his children from the previous marriage refuse to have any contact with her. Even after close to 30 years.
