A Beautiful Gift

This is my second Gshock ever. I used to have a dw6900 when I was fresh out of high school. I knew nothing about watches and I properly beat it to hell! It had tons of battle wounds and I loved it; until the battery died. I decided to part ways with it because after a while it felt too clunky, too ostentatious on my wrist.

Years later a much wiser but equally as ostentatious me craved a new Gshock. I had been working with my younger brother in a restaurant (I as a manager and he a bartender) when he called me up and told me he had an opportunity to help prepare team USA for the Bocuse d’Or (an international cooking competition for elite chefs) my dear friend Vincenzo was a contestant and had needed an extra hand in preparation. Without skipping a beat I told my brother to move forward with the competition and I would get his shifts covered.

I had sent him a screen shot of this watch and told him it seemed an appropriate gift in return for covering his barshifts. Mostly as a joke as he knows I am constantly looking at watches online.

Well. Yesterday he surprised me with this beauty. I’m grateful for the memories tied to it. I love the bold hue of the red! It’s vibrant and the accents of white really pop off the dial. It’s a watch that’ll last the test of time much like my relationship with my brother.

Thank you, Mal!

Great story and watch. Not all watches get noticed but I bet this one does!
