Shinola? Anyone?

Ok. So my family and I are walking through Waikiki wanting to visit our local tourneau…not knowing it had closed! The next watch store would be at the big DFS but they also closed. Ugh. The next one is a Rolex boutique down the street. I was frustrated. I just want to look at watches 😭

After meandering through the International Market Place we stumble upon a Shinola store. So we go in and im not expecting to like anything. Total snobbery at this point. The manager complimented my Panerai and I was pretty stoked that he knew what it was! The lady at Rolex didn’t know which was kinda odd…meh. lol

He shows me this bronze diver. Called the Bronze Monster. And I was blown away! I was surprised at how cool it was. ISO certified? Check! Bezel action being clicks? CHECK!

All in all…I thought that watch was amazing. Does anyone have experience with this brand and or watch? Let me know! This may be a contender for my cash 😂🤘🏽

Oddly the only experience I had to check out Shinola was at their furniture collaboration pop up at a furniture store 😂

The pop up had few Runwell watches, clocks and the steel dive watch model which all looked quite nice but were extremely overpriced. The basic Runwell models were starting at $600 which were all quartz and the automatic ones were over $1000. The steel dive watch was extremely thick and large, quite generic looking design. This bronze model does look good though. The classic models with small seconds are really nice but definitely not worth the price tag. I don't find anything special about the models to drop $1000.

My son in law loves his two Shinola watches, doesn’t know the back story about Detroit rising from urban decay etcetera. Liked it enough to buy a second Shinola with the money his mom gifted to him to buy something deeply personal, selfish

when he married my daughter. He knows I am a watch guy, his wife is also. Feels that we don’t rate Shinola high enough. It is not for me but I would never a personal choice. I think certain Shinola are great.

The design of the Runwells is really nice IMHO, especially those wire lugs. Very clean watches with one of the best leather straps I know.

They are pricey for watches with a Ronda quartz movement, but my wife loves them, and they have worked out well for her.

I noticed they were gone last weekend too! Bummer, the Tourneau was a regular stop whenever I visited. I've never been able to figure out where the Vacheron boutique is - or if it's still there?

Oh! Are you from Hawaii?!

And the VC boutique is in the DFS galleria. It’ll open again in September when I asked
