Calling out to all Seiko dive watch collectors

Does anybody own both the Seiko 5 sports (or SKX) and the SPB143?

I sold my seiko 5 because it was a little too chunky for my 6.5 inch wrist and am now missing a seiko diver...

The SPB143 caught my eye recently... it is 2mm smaller in diameter (40.5 vs 42.5) but it has a longer lug to lug (47.6 vs 46mm).

If you own/ had own / tried both on, how was the wearing experience? Does the SPB143 feel smaller? I gues the 20mm vs 22 mm lug width should also make a difference

Yes, the 62MAS reissues do wear smaller.

Definitely a step up in quality too, really appreciate their diashield coating as they're really tough. Highly recommended 👍🏻

I just saw there is an spb453, 0.5mm smaller and shorter lug to lug but sadly no grey sunburst dial on that

Probably a miss measure, can't see they'd do one watch only in a fractionally smaller LtL than the rest of the range.

Don't worry about the size, I've actually had my 147 nicked by my Mrs who wears it often & it's not too big for her. 😉👍🏻

I have a 6.5” wrist and the 143. Fits well. I’m actually looking to sell it because I want the cash to go towards a CW GMT. DM me if you’re interested and for pics to see how it wears on my wrist.

I’ve had both and yes the 143 wears better. I would say it’s just about a perfect fit for a diver on a smaller wrist. Really like mine and intend on keeping it forever 🤙

Nice! Glad to hear, I'll definitely check it out in a store! If it wears as good as it looks, it might be my ultimate diver 😍

I’ve owned the SKX007 and SPB143. Sold the 143 because it was heavy and didn’t get much wrist time. Will never sell the 007 because it was a gift and the 7S26 is so lovable.

Also owned the SSK001 and SPB313 - the 313 is amazing if you haven’t looked!

Looks like they did! Check it out, it also has a slightliy upgraded movement, different clasp, 300m WR... but I like the grey spb143 better! I'll have to try it in person. I like smaller watches, though I will allow myself to wear something bigger if its a diver! 😄

Yes, you're spot on.

It's a new model , can tell by the "3 days" on the dial. Presumably it's the first of a new range that'll take over from the ones we're referring to.

If you're patient then wait coz prices on these newer ones will drop (& they'll become available on the used market).

Good find, if it's better than it's awesome ancestors it'll be a superb watch 👏🏻👏🏻

I actually went after work and tried the 143 on and its soooo nice !! Might have to reconsider if I still want to get the khaki field auto or this instead 👌

I've had 4 Hamiltons and not kept any because of lack of AR coating and printed flat indices made them hard to read for me.

I recommend trying both on if possible before you make your choice.

FWIW I'd go Seiko ( just noticed the new 3 day's has a better (imho) date placement too) 👍🏻

Yeah, i heard thats a common complaint. I tried the KFA as well and unter store lighting it didn't bother me ... but this seiko might change my plans. Yeah, the new one looks nice, also smaller but I really like the grey sunburst on this one 😍

No worries. I will say the watch wears very well on my wrist. Fits like a 39.5mm in my opinion.
