Wedding / Engagement Watches

Hi y’all! Just posted this to the photography challenge and it had me curious to see wedding or engagement watches from others in the community. Would be great to read the story behind them as well! ☺️

She intended mine as an engagement watch but Rolex waitlists will Rolex waitlist; wasn’t that bad though, only missed the date by a couple of months 😅. I think she was more stressed as I had no clue what she was planning and might have inadvertently bought the same watch myself the longer it dragged on — she’d been secretly skimming my YouTube playlists and listened to me fawn over the watch with friends. Presented after a long day at the office, and the experience made what had been an excruciating week so much better…

Wow, that’s a good one.

My wife of nearly nine years now (damn, it’s been a minute, hasn’t it?) got me this on our engagement. We were traveling at the time, so jewelry stores were close at hand.

EDIT: I just realized realized this photo was taken one year ago today!

Wonder if the AD wrapped it for her…threw in the bow too cause they’re great people

Awesome coincidence! Happy watchiversary? Lovely watch btw!

😂 Can’t say if it’s because they’re “great people”, but our AD always treats us well, especially in Italy. According to her: they apologized for it not being able to make the exact date she’d requested, offered her some goodies and champagne to make up for this, and wrapped it up for her.

Wedding watch above, from 2020, thought it wasn’t the watch I wore. I was on a list for a 39 OP in white, and once discontinued, had to switch gears, and my AD at just gotten in a YM 40. Wasn’t really on my radar mostly because I’d never seen one in the AD. But seeing it in person, with the blue dial, I immediately fell in love. Had the caseback engraved as well with the date.

I wore a Tissot Visodate on my wedding day, which ended up being one of my least liked watches, but looks good in photos! And now that watch has a new home and this watch as my wedding gift took its place. Considering we didn’t get the big wedding we had planned (this was 2020 after all), I’m happy with how it all played out in the end. Would I have preferred a white OP and a big wedding? Yes. But I’m extremely happy 3 years on with my wife, our new daughter, and my YM.

I was being sarcastic about being great people. At it's most basest level, they're salespeople trying to separate you from your hard earned money. All the goodies thrown in are included in the sales price of the watch or the cost of doing business.

Buddy, I knew you were being sarcastic, hence the laughing emoji and air quotes. I was being polite as I don’t get the point of your reply — every salesperson that works off commission, be it your Omega salesperson or your real estate agent, is trying to separate you from your money…and I’m in full command of mine, but thanks for your misplaced concern. Regarding goodies, up to a point, but that will not include the lovely £250 Everest watch roll she was given. I’ve been a customer of theirs for nearly 5 or 6 years now, I think I know how this works. They treat us well, and always have, so your reply to a lighthearted post about happy occasions is a headscratcher that might say more about you than your reply has to say about any salesperson.

Don’t take this the wrong way because I’m happy to engage if you want to stay on-topic or have anything relevant to discuss, otherwise keep it moving with that negative energy — we’re good over here. Ciao, hopefully we connect on a more positive note in future 🍻

The YM40 in blue is stunning. AD just offered it to me a couple of weeks ago, I only turned it down as I have far too many blues in the collection (PO 39.5, Batman, Milgauss). Absolutely stunning in person!

We tried eloping but my mom wouldn’t hear of it 😅.

Not going to lie, that looks pretty stunning on her wrist! Sadly Rolex dropped the blue from their 37mm lineup as well, but that 40 looks good regardless on her, and I'm sure on you too!

Thank you brother! Yes, she was surprised at how well the 40 fit her — she’s asked to see the 37mm in rhodium. I think she’ll end up with a Cartier Santos though, she’s been pining for that for a while now.

She’s got good taste. I also have the santos in medium and my wife and I will share from time to time.
