Glycine Airman & Rolex GMT
Glycine Airman came into existence in 1953 and Rolex GMT in 1954.
While The Rolex GMT has always been a luxurious watch till this day. Not many can afford it. The Airman on the other hand was obtainable by many, specifically pilots, politicians and businessmen that traveled around the world.
Because of it’s availability and design the Airman became legendary in the military during the WAR. An Icon in the watch community.
I have come to appreciate the ingenuity and the craftsmanship of the Airman.
The Airman is the grandfather of the GMT. And i am grateful that Glycine was saved from becoming extinct and in the history books.
I love watches and this model has become my favorite.

Hear hear. The Airman feels an under appreciated classic. I love the way Glycine went about the design etc, eccentric but genius. Locking bezel so the second timezone wasn’t accidentally changed and the hacking pin at 12 are examples. It’s on my watch list for 2024, always checking the secondhand market. If the right 36mm 24hr model with cream dial becomes available they can take my money 😀

It’s a beautiful watch, specifically the one with the white dial. It’s an iconic watch. Every collector should have an Airman.
