Bienvenue à rue Cambon: Chanel Unveils Stunning Automaton Piece at Watches and Wonders

The J12 Couture Workshop Automaton Caliber 6 Watch is a new creation from the Chanel Watchmaking Creation Studio. Inspired by Gabrielle Chanel and her couture atelier at 31 rue Cambon, the watch features a dial that comes to life to mirror the movements of a couture atelier, with Mademoiselle Chanel

Unfortunately these cool and quirky designs (and women’s pieces in general) are often overlooked in the W&W’s coverage. But they are there.

IMHO, the “women’s” catagory is overlooked because 1. They don’t bring in the money or the YouTubers and 2. There is a bias against “jewelry” pieces. I find the second reason ridiculous because in my opinion all mechanical/auto watches are jewelry (very few - although there are a few (even if digital can do it better) - still use them primarily as tools)

Man, I have to make it out to a show one day.

Chanel does bring the fire. The J12 is probably my wife’s most worn watch.

It’s a COSC certified Kenissi movement, GPHG winner, ceramic case and bracelet with a unique butterfly clasp, 70 hour power reserve and 200m water resistance.

Mrs. SolidYetti has noted the same thing.

Different use case and price points, but Momentum, Abingdon Co, and Elliot Brown all have solid women's tool-ish watches, that aren't just men's sizes with flowers thrown on them.

For a US assembled, Swiss component option, Resco makes the Sea Pearl too.

But in general I think there needs to be more options for women. Women wear non smart watches too, and if they become enthusiasts it's pretty much Fossil level or straight to FP Journe and not much between.
