Has anyone here bought a watch from CW Sellors/Jura Watches?

Jura/ CW Sellors are a long established jewellers here in the UK with quite a few brick and mortar stores mainly in the North of England. I was always under the impression they were a decent outfit but I've had an unfortunate experience with them over the last 10 days and I'm wondering how other people's dealings with them have gone. 

My daughter is getting married tomorrow so just after Christmas we decided to buy a watch for our future Son in Law and as he's an outdoorsy guy we went for the Boldr Venture GMT in blue. Jura had one at a great price with 3 day delivery which would get to us with plenty of time before the wedding so we bought the watch from them. Three days later on New Years Eve we had an email from Jura telling us they had ordered the watch from Boldr and would advise on delivery time. Eh?

I emailed back and asked what does that mean, when I bought the watch it was labelled on the website as In Stock? Two days later I got a reply. It appears that there was a mess up with the inventory and they didn't have any in stock, to fulfil the order they had to approach Boldr to see if they have any in stock and once confirmed they'll order one delivered direct to me. 

I immediately replied letting them know that this watch was needed for a wedding on the 6th so could they get back to me as soon as they get a reply from Boldr so we know where we stand. No reply, three days later and we have not heared from them. 

I don't mind that the watch wasn't in stock, everyone makes mistakes but the lack of communication is so frustrating especially as they are fully aware why we need an update. My wife and son are in Salisbury as we speak looking for a watch for tomorrow. 

As I'm typing this I just got a reply from Boldr. An hour ago I went to their website and saw that the blue GMT was out of stock so I emailed them asking are they restocking the watch or is it discontinued and they replied that they have no plans to restock. That took me an hour.

Anyway it would be interesting to hear from other Jura customers and find out whether this was just a one off mess up or is this normal for them.

I bought a Zodiac just before Christmas and it arrived after a couple of days. I know your experience is similar to other reviews I've read though.

Just checked TrustPilot and although they have a really good score the latest reviews are mostly negative including In Stock items being out of stock resulting in delays so I think they had organisational problems over the Xmas period

I use CWS/Jura for many of my purchases. 

I can both testify to having a flawless excellent experience with them AND having issues when stock control went wrong. 

I'm sorry that it's so frustrating. 

I've never had to buy in haste so I've never had any worries over orders taking longer. 

My take on it is that Jura is a big old operation relatively speaking that carries a LOT of stock and is the distribution behind a number of retail outlets that have managed to survive in the UK including Hamonds and CW Sellors (and possibly others). You'll find a number of rebadged websites in different names carrying the same stock and the same deals. I have found them to be a company doing their best with a very limited 'small business' model where it would be very easy toncross wires on orders across the stores and the web outlets and get confusing stock control. They also seem to have VERY privileged access to the brands they sell. I once ordered a watch from a French brand from an 'old stock' clearance which did exactly what your order has done. Fortunately for me the brand really wanted to help and to sell a unit even at discount price and they extended my lead time a little and then supplied me the brand new facelift model and the sale price was honoured. 

I'm different, I suppose, because I shop sale events and anticipate special gifting a long time in advance to get deals, I totally understand that the timing of this is disappointing and you need to make other arrangements. For ninety nine out of a hundred times, I'd bear with them...

My experience makes me think they're hard working and committed, a small team trying to run web sales and multiple retail outlets at once. 

Hamonds in Whitby are a well known and established store and multiple branches around North Yorkshire and are Sellors/Jura outlets. 

They absolutely have my full confidence and are one of my first ports of call when I'm allowed to shop for new items.

I bought my watch from CW sellors Bakewell it was a 2hr drive from my house each way ,but as it was in the sale with over £1000 of I couldn't say no plus I wanted to try it on ,the staff were very friendly only small niggle was when I got home and put the watch on it wasn't set to the correct time or date .

Sorry to revive an old post, but did they sort your issue in the end?

I have had a watch on order with Jura since 15 February - I was told 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. So I waited until 12 weeks had gone by and emailed asking for an update. I waited another week, and when I didn’t get a reply I emailed again.

Having had no further reply, I then discovered the “track my order” tab on the website and filled in the form for that (promising a reply in 1 working day).

I’m still waiting for a reply, now 3 months after I ordered! Do I just cancel the payment from my credit card company, or is it worth waiting?!

I ordered a Squale on 3rd August and 7 weeks later have no idea when my watch will arrive.

They said they had to contact them for the order and whenever I ask for an update all I hear is they are awaiting a delivery date. I am not impressed
