Promaster Orca: How big is too big?

Any Citizen Orca owners out there that can give me some advice?

Never handled one in person, but I’m wondering if the 46mm orca watches are simply too big for my 6.75in wrist.

I love the aesthetic and the practicality to serve as a watersports/beater summer watch, but I keep wondering if this thing is just gonna look goofy on me. I’ve heard they wear smaller than their size might suggest.

Any thoughts on bracelet vs silicone strap?

Any small(er)-wristed Orca owners out there?

PFA, and thanks in advance for your input!

I have an 18cm wrist - that’s on the larger side - and I would not wear a watch that big. It’d be like a souvenir toy hockey puck on my wrist. Honestly. 🕊️

I have a 7 1/4" wrist and I won't be buying anything over 40mm anymore. Luckily I only own one watch over that and it's only a 42mm.

Fair point 😅

I’ve got the 42.5mm Seiko SSK003 and I feel like it looks fine on my wrist, but that’s largely due to the short lug-to-lug length of 46mm. This would be…quite the step up, haha

I have a 45mm Panerai and I love the size. I have a big wrist though. I think for you it may be too large based on your wrist. You should try a watch on that size and see if you like it.

6.5" and I routinely wear large watches.

Of course I'm not trying to slip them under a cuff, YMMV.

Lug-to-lug is key, to me it’s more important than case diameter. Cool looking watch!

That's a very interesting question.

I really like the orca as a summer (pool, beach, etc) beater.

It's an interesting piece that has personality, and for that it takes its space on your wrist.

I tested it a couple of times in shops (pics of one of the times below - 17cm wrist).

I feel like it's exactly the watch it's supposed to be.

It's going to pop.

That's my thing for a summer beater.

In that sense it doesn't feel large at all.

Try it out, if you can. Let us know how you felt. 😁

Looks great on your wrist. Definitely a big watch with a big personality - although that’s the point! And why I like this model so much. I’ll look for one at my local shops and report back one I try one on 🫡

I have an old ti orca and a 6.7 inch wrist, and I adore that watch. It's BIG, no mistaking it. It's one of my only watches my wife has ever commented on, and her comment was "woah that's a big watch!" And we both had a good laugh, because it's true, and to me that's part of the look and part of the appeal. It's such a unique design that, to me, it doesn't really feel like just a normal watch that happens to be in too big a size. It feels like its own unique thing, like a little alien submarine that you can wear on your wrist, which looks huge because of course it does.

It's a summer watch for me too, which makes it wear even bigger because my bare arm and wrist aren't sheathed in the bulk of a jacket or sweatshirt. But somehow the bright colors, aquatic theme, and in-your-face bigness really work for me and how I dress in the summer.

I'll take a wrist shot in a little bit to show how it fits

Thanks much @robbery ! I definitely want to try one, my wrist is similar size. I feel like for a summer / fun watch, it’s too good to pass up for the price. Maybe I’ll encourage me to actually get into diving 😅fun having something different and crazy in the watch box

Looks like they're 137 bucks on eBay right now. Just do it.

I admired the ti orca back in 2007, but held off for over a decade because I thought it might be too big for me. When I finally decided to try it, I was kicking myself because the were like 3x expensive and almost impossible to find on the ti bracelet. I wished I'd just went for it back in the day and then sold it off it didn't work out, instead of being over cautious.
