In one word: Grandpa.
I remember his collection of watches, mainly Japanese brands, which he’d allow me wear whenever I went to visit. That definitely sparked my interest.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Can’t quite remember, but recall always having a watch as early as a kid.
More memorable watches later in my life include the Orient day date homage - EV0 series - which I remember buying in stainless steel, two tone and gold.
There’s also the Rotary Les Originale GB series. It was a two tone date just homage, in a 40mm case.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
There’s a number of those. But I’m going with the Maen Hudson MKIII. My first micro brand watch that I had to pursue before adding to the collection.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Buy whatever you want, but make sure it’s something you’re looking at actually wearing.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
JLC
Farer
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
I admire those who have one. For me, there’s no such thing ☺️
