Question about movements:

Is there a jumping hour movement where the hour hand jumps hour to hour around the dial (not gliding from hour to hour) versus the hour dial rotating say at the 12 o clock and rotating around like the date does? Sorry for the horrible explanation. Most jumping hours are a window. Looking for one that would act more traditional but jump and stick on each hour indice.

Thank you for your help!

True. Thinking about one that’s more standard and available to purchase the movement. I have an idea for a watch. This movement would be perfect.

I can think of a modification that could work on a standard movement as a module.

The hour wheel, instead of directly impulsing the pinion, would turn a sprung cam. The cam would slip on the hour, and impelled by the spring, cause the hour hand to jump.

For what that’s worth. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ive heard of this trying to research a jump hour that works more like a GMT on a 3 handed watch. All I remember was it does exist on some higher priced watches

I hear you and totally understood! Maybe a vintage watch buff would know. Their are so many lesser known complications that use to be produced. Oris had some funky complications ive seen so who knows what other companies that size had done.

You mean as it's telling the time, the hour hand jumps to the next hour as the minute hand gets to 12?

Not to my knowledge.

My Panerai Submersible hour jumps at first crown position and then hacks and adjusts normally at second crown position.

I like that watch. It should be very funny trying to see the time in those "dark" nights...
