Hunting for a new watch under 2000 €

Hey guys,

I’m new to watch crunch and I’m excited to interact with so many watch enthusiasts on this platform. Really feels like an encyclopedia of knowledge every time I read a new article. I would really value your opinions on this.

I am currently looking for a brand new everyday watch under/ equal to 2000€. I am looking for a good mechanical watch for my birthday. This also my entry point into mechanical watches.

In terms of what I am looking for, I want a good everyday go anywhere/do anything watch. It must have:

A) 100m water resistance

2) Case diameter better 37mm - 40mm

3) Easily serviceable for movement.

4) Power reserve between 48-56 hours

5) Decent accuracy of movement

At the moment, I am very confused with some of my choices. Here’s what I’ve taken a look at:

  1. Christopher Ward C63 GMT

  2. Christopher Ward C65 Aquatine (Bronze & COSC certified)

  3. Seiko SPB 381/383

  4. Sinn 556 and some variants

  5. Longines Hydroconquest (Most expensive by far)

Was considering the Pitzmann 3 but it only has 50m water resistance 🫠and I don’t want to baby my watch

Feel free to make suggestions outside of the aforementioned watches. I really can’t seem to decide on one thing. Looking forward to listening to your suggestions.

Thank you!

I’d suggest looking at:

  • Spirit 37mm (might be tight on the price range)

  • Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 300 40mm ( really liked these when I visited their showroom)

  • Tuseno watches (my favourite is the Shellback)

Take your time and enjoy doing your research - there’s a wealth of choice out there.

Sorry being in France - I should have suggested Yema, Baltic and Serica too!

Might have to wait for a restock, but have you considered the Lorier Falcon?

Easily serviced/replaced movement, true no date as well, killer looks, and the best part, only $500US. Save the money for other hobbies or a different watch?

Also being from France, take a look at Wolbrook/Douglas. Their Outrider fits the bill too.

Thank you for the suggestions! And yes! I did look at Lorrier briefly but I believe that it was another model.

Did not know about Wolbrook, will definitely take a look!

I like your picks so far with the seiko spb or the christopher ward. Farer makes some nice watches in this range and you could probably get a nomos club as well. Good luck on your search ❤️

Thank you Taylor for your suggestions! Appreciate it! I just took a look at the Nomos Club and it looks pretty tempting but I definitely haven’t taken a look into Farer. Will do that now 😊

SERICA! Currently obsessed with them and they seem to fit your needs

Pretty much anything from Hamilton would fit the bill.

SERICA! Currently obsessed with them and they seem to fit your needs

I just checked out the SERICA brand. They seem to really have some nice watches considering the fact that they just started making watches a few years ago! Thank you for your suggestion!

If I were you, I would take a look at Formex Essence. Original design and a lot of original ideas packed into the watch (case suspended on springs, amazing bracelet with quick adjust). They come in many colours and sizes. The movement is industry classic SW200, COSC certified, which is fantastic.

Seiko SPB lineup is a lottery movement-wise and I'm saying that as an owner of one (luckily accurate).

Thanks for the suggestion Matt! And yes, I’ve checked the Formex as of me writing this. Really love the watch. This is definitely a strong pick when I narrow down before I buy
