Watchtime Düsseldorf Germany 2023

I wanted to share with you my impressions of the watchtime weekend in Düsseldorf.First of all: it was a great fair. Around 35 watchbrands, a watchmaker school, a safe builder and many others from the watch world presented their products. It is one of the very few fairs, where brands representives and customers can come together and share their ideas, opinions and minds....and where you can touch and try every time piece like a child in a candy shop without getting kicked out by an angry shop owner 😀.

We had a lod of small and medium brands. Less high end luxury pieces. More in affordable range of watch brands (of course depending on every individual situation).

I've had a lot of wonderful and interesting chats with many Owners, CEOs and Managers. Special thanks to Cornelius from Circular and Mr. Untch from PointTec (the holding company of many affordable watchbrands as like Zeppelin), who really take their time to lissten not just to me and my head full of ideas 😀, but every enthusiast who had some questions.

It was especially a very precious moment because most or many of that brands offering their procuts in direct distribution. So it was my chance to get close to the watches without ordering them.

I came across to many german Watch Youtubers. Special thanks to Mario Lenke who gave me the free Ticket and makes great content, unfortunately in german only.

One of the most impressive pieces was this Sinn Chronograph. An exclusive design collaboration with a german watch magazine. I like Sinn, but they are for my personal taste usually too much kind of tool watches with aluminium bezels and matt dials. So THIS Chrono litteraly shines out with it's ceramic bezel in this beautiful color and the shine dial. I don't think, that the picture can take the beauty of it. It's limited edition, unfortunately.

And the earrings of the sinn representive took my attention 😀. What a cool idea!

Also the stand of PointTEC was very busy. PointTEC owns:

  • Zeppelin

  • IronAnnie

  • Bauhaus (the Brand)

  • Ruhla

What is great about that company, as many of you know, that they are offering great watches in hitorical designs for very affordable prices in quite good quality. Resently PointTec also merged Ruhla watches and their roduction lines. So even if PointTEC Brands are using Swiss and Japanese movements, they are producing them all own in their own manufactureings.

Especially this Chronograph cathed my eyes and back home I decided to order one.

I finally also got the chance to try the Circula Aquaspot with a meteroid dial.

Another eyecatcher were these two limited special editions of Alpina and Hanhart in collaboration with the Watch magazine Chronos.

They looked awesome!

Unfortunatly I had to less time to check every stand and watch.

So here are some other impressions of honorable watches:

Those earrings are fiya 🔥

I love those earrings! I've done something similar with an old Miyota 2035 for a friend.

I love the Sinn rotor a lot more, but hey, I make due with what I have.

Also, I had no idea Ruhla was still going as a brand. I know them as the manufacturer of the watch movement that totally defeated me, an old zero-jewel pin-pallet monster. Keen to see what they do, because they actually have a lot of heritage, especially talking budget watches and the last stand of mechanical watches.

That Ruhla Solar looks really good 👌🏻

·

Love the #sinn rotor earrings!

Yes they are. It was such a cool Idea.

I agree about the Sinn watches, I love a good tool, ready for anything watch but some of theirs are just to matte aluminum looking. This one definitely stands out.

Also, that green dial Zeppelin chrono is beautiful, happy you order it. 😜

Yes they (Ruhla) are really an interesting brand with history. I think they fit very well into the üroduct strategy of pointTEC. They will propably use their historical heritage for some upcomming models. These integrated models are the first one which are based on 70s models. But not 1 to 1.

I think also. It's a great alternative for those who are looking for integrated fesign but solar powered.

Rotor earring is awesome. Well played, Sinn!

I hope to make it to a watch convention some day, sounds like a great time.

It was a good mixture of different price brackets imo.

Also met a gentleman who was wearing this. Such a fascinating piece to handle.

Thanks for the photos. Those earrings should go into regular production!

I also really like the special edition Hanhart. The regular dials all look a bit flat to me, but it looks great in that variation.

Very cool lost. Great to see some of the more affordable/ less big German watch brands
