Am I crazy for considering the Seiko SPB239 when I already have the SPB143?

Lately, I’ve been eyeing the SPB239 model because I love the color scheme. In my opinion, the 62 MAS reissue is one of the best looking watches out there but owning two of the same watch seems silly. I already have the 143 so the practical side of me says I don’t need it. Then again, watches are not practical purchases haha.

The colour sheme of the SPB239 is simply gorgeous🤤. Both watches are absolute stunners. Nothing speaks against having both of them, mate!

I have a 143 as well and have been seriously considering adding an SPB213 limited edition. I agree it’s such a handsome watch, I love staring at it way more than some of the more expensive pieces in my collection. And I’m a sucker for good lume. Glad to hear there’s at least two of us crazy enough to consider two variants of the same watch!

It’s a 68 rather than 62, but same colorway and ever brilliant steel (which is stunning in person)

Bit more saving up but maybe worth the effort!

Yes.

Then again, Seiko makes (and must sell) a ton of watches that look almost identical to me. I have to believe a fair number of those watches are somebody’s second or third similar Seiko. So while I wouldn’t, I don’t think you’d be alone if you did.

If I did'n miscount, the 62MAS is available in 10 different variations. So a second one in your collection isn't like owning all of them.

As an owner of the SPB239, I went with this instead of the SPB143 solely because of the subtle gilt accents that Seiko did with this model and also wanted to scratch my itch after selling the BB58. The dial on this model is quite a stunner and appears differently with every light. This watch is also a proper strap monster and I am also a big fan of the 62mas design, and probably will add SPB253/8L 62mas in future.

I haven’t figured out what’s the crux ,the reason -the insanity or sanity in deriving so much pleasure from this fascination with watches-I mean I just can’t imagine not being obsessed with Time-and these cool little marvelous instruments that are art, engineering, visual poetry and wonder all at once-I mean is it a bit odd not only to have them but to be always researching, reading about or even listening to talks and viewing videos about WATCHES?well…enough philosophy gotta go to dinner …later!

Looks great. Who makes the bracelet in the first pic?

Seiko's factory bracelet. My model came with two nato straps so I bought the factory bracelet along with the watch.

Is that the 143 metal bracelet? If not, what kind is it and how do you like the feel of it?

Its the factory Seiko bracelet for the 62mas, same as the one in the 143 and other models. I got it for a good price along with my watch since it came with two natos. I paid only $100 instead of the original price $275. The bracelet is very good, fits well and matches the watch's diashield coating. The clasp is on the longer side because of the diver's extension but my wrist is large so it doesn't bother me and I like the thin profile of the clasp.

If your wrists are smaller and the long clasp bothers you, I would suggest swap the clasp for a aftermarket one. Since it is 18mm, it is easy to find replacement. I would recommend Uncleseiko 18mm diver clasp.

The best alternative aftermarket bracelet is to get from uncle seiko for the 62mas if you don't want the factory bracelet.
