I’ve often wondered about the efficacy of billboard advertising for luxury goods.
The people that are looking for a Zenith watch probably already know about it, have spoke to their AD about it, and are in the process of negotiating a discount on it.
For everyone else? How many people crawling past that billboard in the traffic suddenly think “Hmm, I think I’ll drop five grand on a watch on my way home tonight…”?

If I think about it, billboards that I see are at least near AD’s and I’m guessing rates are reasonable. With Zenith, I can imagine people thinking, “They make watches?!”
Here in Atlanta there’s always a few Rolex, Omega and others.
I think the purpose of billboards, especially when we’re talking about watches and luxury goods, is more about (marketing through) image than it is direct marketing. I tend to find watch billboards to be pretty tasteful for what they are.
Those gas prices are outrageous
