48 years old and going strong - really need to look at this one from an angle to appreciate those onyx indices at the hours and the applied minute markers. There wasn’t much in 70s design that was timeless but this certainly makes an argument for itself.

I see from your gallery that yours is on the original bracelet. You will see that mine is not - it is a contemporaneous Seiko bracelet but not the Superior one. Shame but that helped me afford it! Just set mine up for an accuracy test (with a few others - pic below). Have you checked yours and do you know what accuracy you are getting? V best

I did not even notice the bracelet difference, but it’s clear now. I have only had mine since august 19th this year, and it might have lost 1 secund. You have a very nice collection 👍🏻

Yes I ended up down this rabbit hole for four main reasons:

  1. The technology, reliability, accuracy are all impressive and the watches are serviceable (appeals to my engineering background)

  2. The watches are both fairly widely available and still reasonably affordable (appeals to my wallet)

  3. The designs haven’t dated too badly considering they are pretty much 50 years old (appeals to my aesthetic appreciation)

  4. Dimensions-wise they are at the sweet spot of the smaller end of what I wear (whereas old vintage watches tend to be 34mm and lower, which is too small for me) and I would tend to choose these in lieu of a dress watch (so pretty practical too)

And I can’t see the above changing too much in years to come.

Enjoy your Superior, it’s a lovely example.
