When you show your grand daughter this watch tell her there is no obligation to be burdened by it’s ownership and when she gets it let her know she can get a lot of money for the watch if in future she needs cash . I will not give my granddaughter an obligation to keep it to honour me . Just interested how you see it .

If I had a watch from my grandfather or even father, there’s no money in the world that would convince me to sell it. Unless I was in dire financial straits. I wouldn’t see it as a burden at all. In the end, though, it’s hers to do with as she sees fit

Thats what I am asking yes , you’re not going to insist she keep it . My grand daughter will inherit a watch if she chooses one 🙂

Great looking watch and cute little hands 😍 congrats on both!!

Hopefully it’s a size that gives her a fighting chance lol. Very pretty watch. The Date-Just is at a great intersection between classiness and functionality.

I plan to gift one of my younger cousins a Tissot that I’m saving up for a little.

If i ever have any watches I’d pass down, i don’t think they would be able to sell them for much. A big factor in my gifting watches is “How much of a burden would it be for the recipient to maintain it?”, and so I tend to stick with much more affordable watches.

I passed on my great great grandfather’s Soligen steel and Silver pommel and staghorn hunting knife to my eldest daughter already as I did not have a son . She loved it and always wanted to hold it so I gave it to her now . It was made in the early 1800s I believe. I had it restored with a fantastic knife maker Keith Fludder who lives i a place called Tahmoor NSW and he is a master cutler and Japanese steel maker ( traditional ) . So it is worth more than the money so I do understand, she will never sell it . One day she can pass it on if she has a son .
