Custom Ordered a Watch Box to Match my Bass Guitar

Back in January I decided that I would treat myself to a nice watch box and started looking around for ideas. Somewhere amongst my endless wondering I came across a link to a man in Australia by the name of David Innocente who was hand making watch boxes out of wood and powder coated sheet metal. While I think the designs are pretty cool to look at, what really set it off for me was the fact that my favorite bass guitar is made using similar materials and techniques. Thus, it was pretty clear that I needed to order one to match!

I settled on a 6pc box with an extra compartment for "miscellaneous", but he threw in a couple extra pillows in case I wanted to store watches in there as well. Why a 6 pcs box when I have more than 6 watches? I don't know...perhaps some inner desire to go back to the simpler times before I had double digit watches...but I'm not unhappy with my choice.

Regardless, about 13 weeks later (as quoted originally), I received my box in the mail and it's exactly what I was hoping for. Now it's not an exact match as they didn't have the exact powder coating my luthier had access too and they didn't have the same wood species easily accessible, but close enough for my desires and something I knew when I ordered.

Anyways, a bit of an SOTC here as well, since I decided to populate this with watch pics as well.

Am I glad to meet you!!! Don't have anything as exotic as that bass or the watches (looks amazing) but will def look around for a box that would match the axes!! Great idea.

Spectacular!

Beautiful pairing - and what a nice aesthetic for the room. Investing in a watch box with meaning is a journey worth far more than the funds.

Very nice. Have admired his boxes for a while, love the inner compartment cover too.

Never saw a bass like that please tell us more. 😉

I have some stuff too. Colletionite is a thing indeed.

I’ve generally had somewhat esoteric tastes in basses and while I don’t play much anymore or have as many instruments as I once did, my watch tastes have somewhat echoed the basses I’ve been attracted to. Mostly a bit left of center.

I definitely didn’t expect to find a watch box that matched my bass though!
