Last spot in the box

Hey hey!

« New » cruncher here!

About a year ago, I fell into this hobby and since I got a little bit too enthusiastic with buying new pieces! Here’s where I am right now.

I am looking I into filling the last spot in the box, and am open to suggestions! As you can see my budget is not so high (the BlackBay is a family heirloom that I did not purchase myself). I guess I can go up to 1000$ if I fall in love with the piece (which happens a little bit too often unfortunately).

Perhaps some micro-brand? Or a « true » chronograph? Anyway I appreciate all suggestions 😁

Thanks!

Great collection there. I have some similar pieces, outside of the BB. How about another diver for those days you’re going near water and don’t want to bring the heirloom. Lots of good choices under $1000.

Citizen Promaster diver. You need a less expensive diver to beat around.

Thanks! Yes, I agree. I had my eyes on a Seiko (Sports 5 38mm perhaps?) or a Turtle. Though I would prefer to vary in brands :)

Spot on! Will check it out, thanks 💪

If you want a low priced chrono you can check out the seiko solar quartz chronographs. Many colors to choose from. Although i do understand youre trying to diversify your brand lineup. Just consider this a plan B 😊

Tbh I do love seiko, I am barely hanging on from buying some more haha. The solar prospex lineup is pretty hot, though in my experience with a G-shock, solar movements lose power quite quickly and are annoying to start back up. Any experience with one from Seiko? How often should I wear it to avoid this?

I would have suggested a Tissot Seastar as best diver under $1000 but you already have another Tissot. Lots of great divers in the micro space…lots of love here for Squale, Helm, and even Islander.

·

I recommend KUOE Kyoto — a Japanese micro brand with some real vibes

·

Get another box!

·

No need to rush to fill that last spot - it's bound to happen sooner or later. 🙂

That said, if you're interested in an affordable true chronograph, have you looked at the 63 Seagull yet?

Good point! For the Seagull, yes, I've looked into it, but in the end I did not buy it because I got confused by all the different ones I could find. As far as I understand, the movement is not patented so anyone can make Seagull 63s? Would you have a suggestion for which brand to go with?

Sorry i dont have personal experience with it yet. It does have a power reserve indicator so you can tell if you are running low on power

·

I would suggest getting a square case G-Shock

Love your collection, very diverse & practical. As for your watch collecting!? Yes it’s a sickness that I think everyone here has and understands and fortunately there are no known cures! Happy collecting my fellow mad watcher. 👍

·

I think a pilots Watch would fit right in, if thats your taste👍

If you don’t go for a chronograph, I can recommend the Baltic Aquascaphe Blue gilt as a diver. Really nice blue dial and vintage vibes.

I love your strap choices (NATO on dress watch, the strap on the Hamilton 👍)

Stunning! Love that blue dial/brown leather strap combination

Is that a baby blue Bambino? If so, very very nice.

Hehe it's the white one, the blue sky reflection makes it look blueish! Would love a baby blue one though if they ever decide to make one

·

Beautiful, will defintely need another watch box ;)

·

If you are ok with the mecaquartz movement and looking for something unique with retro vibes that fits the budget, i would suggest checking out Brew Metric. they have recently come up with 3 new dial colors too!

Time for a new box

I'm also relatively new to all of this. I'm looking at your collection and noticed a lot of pieces that are the A typical social media recommendations. Is that what you like personally or just what is "acceptable".

I, like many of us on this platform are firm believers that you buy the watch that YOU love. Use YouTube reviews and such as a information source to test quality and function.

The last watch should be for YOU. Wether it is socially acceptable or a crazy watch that expresses your individuality. There is so much choice from $50-$500,000. There is never a rush, take your time and enjoy yourself in this amazingly diverse world of horology 👍🏾✌🏾

And you are (to some extent) correct. But I am not sure this is a bad thing. When you get started into something, the rational thing to do is to seek advice, hence some piece that you deem "acceptable" because popular on socials/medias. Especially in this world where you can get scammed at every corner, it get increasingly scary to make such costly decisions all by yourself! Still, be sure that I do not regret any of the purchases I made, I do love and wear all of them (the golden casio is alittle bit hard to pull off haha) 😉

I do take the wise advice though, and I think this is a natural development when you start mastering your subject more, knowing what you love and what you don't (which takes some mistakes!), being able to identify a quality piece. Anyhow, many thanks for the kind words and see you around

Breathtaking dial and bezel combo. Is it sapphire or acrylic? Either way it plays with the sun light in a lovely way. @Droppingin if you were talking about this one, it's a Baltic. A very well respected micro brand.

Thanks, mate. It‘s sapphire, the bezel too.

@garbageman I'm looking at the new Aragon DiveMaster 40mm, it also has a sapphire bezel.

The classic vintage vibe of the Lorier Neptune might look nice with the rest of the collection 😃

Have you thought about CWC divers? Or perhaps a Sinn 556i to get started on German pieces?
