Etiquette question

I have noticed that people do not tend to list watches for sale on the forum. I’m not against this, and am not interested in WatchCrunch becoming a market place. Now to my question, I am upgrading my watch box. I was considering posting to see if anyone local was interested in my old one. Here is the question: how do the members of WatchCrunch feel about such a post? Is it inappropriate?

I'm totally against if you're selling it for cheap but don't live in my area.😉

If there were a specific area of the app that isolated those kind of posts then I wouldn’t be opposed I guess. But it would really ruin the regular posting experience if it was completely clogged with people trying to sell off watches. IMHO, but I’m also fairly new here.

I agree that a subsection would be beneficial. I just would not want to post something that might be considered inappropriate.

I’m north of Boston. I’m not big on selling stuff, especially over the internet. But if someone local was looking for a nice watch box I figured it might be okay to post about it. However, I don’t wish to be inappropriate as well as not wanting the post feed to become a marketplace.

Folks have tried to sell here. Until we get a BST section, as long as it does not get spammy, have at it.

Thank you for your input. WatchCrunch has a great feel, been a community with little drama, and I would only want to contribute to the continuation of this.

I was told it wasn't allowed and was asked to remove a sale post about two months ago. I'll add that if this turned into a sales focused app, I'd probably leave.

Ok, I looked at the site ‘rules’ but didn’t find anything. I figured a poll might garner information.

It may not be a rule but it was odd I was told to remove a post. I have seen others but never followed to see if those were removed.

I agree with your opinion that if the site and app were to become a market place that it would be a negative. I just wasn’t sure if it was an unwritten rule. Really, if a moderator sees this poll and chimes in I think that would be excellent.

I value your input. I created the poll to seek feedback and understand how others feel.

I agree with most here, I'm ok with it as long as it does not show up in the main feed. It seems like it might be cool if we had some kind of P2P marketplace, I wouldn't want it to get clogged with resellers, but I am sure there are many here that would be happy to buy/trade amongst ourselves.

I ended up deciding not to post the box. Even though a clear majority felt it was okay, I felt like there was enough opposition that it is better not to post.
