What do you think of this?

Hey everyone,

Came across this Citizen Fujitsubo at my AD today. Thinking of pulling the trigger because they can give me quite a substantial discount. Like I mean substantial. Never owned a citizen. What do you all think?

If you like the styling, you can't go wrong with Citizen. They make watches that rival anything in their price range, and have far less QC issues than Seiko does these days.

It looks good, but if it's the one I think, which costs around 1K, it's not worth the price.

I completely agree. I personally thought the workmanship is on par if not above Seiko. At least the bezel aligned peferfectly 😂. It’s also quite a hi-beat. The second hand moved like butter.

I’m just second guessing this because of the titanium case. This thing was lighter than my Gshocks. Not sure how I will feel about the weight after a while…

That’s the one…it is titanium… and when I look at Seiko’s prices these days I consider this one quite a bargain for better specs

I've never associated weight with quality, but I can see why others do. My preference is always for light watches, as they are less noticeable on wrist.

Nono I wasn’t comparing weight with quality. I am just afraid for a watch that runs me about $1k, I’m just afraid i will eventually find it too light lol.

I do like lighter watches on some days. However, on a typical day I do like the weight on my wrist.

Just a personal dilemma. I don’t get why these Japanese watches are priced this high these days! I just missed those old Seiko days when watches were in the $3-700 range! Those prices helped solved a lot of dilemmas 😂

This model is usually found for $450-550 online so if you are getting a good deal for around that price then I say it is worth. Good diver in titanium for that price. Plus the 9000 series movement is the best Citizen offers right now.

I’m in Canada. These things retail at $1200msrp it’s kind of crazy

I didn’t know Citizen had ADs. Thought you’d just get one at your local big box retail like Macys.

Pretty sure they are an AD.

The shop also has Omega’s Longines and a whole bunch of other brands

The retail price for the model on the rubber strap is 790 USD and 990 USD for the ones on bracelet. I wouldn't pay retail for this watch especially on the rubber strap. Its a good watch but not worth the retail, pretty dull case and generic compared to Citizen's other models in the same price range, you can pick up a Series 8 model for the same price which are really worth it. If the substantial discount is like 40% or more then its its a good deal.

Also, I'm not a fan of the slippery bezel and the tiny crown on this model. Both are fussy to use.

I'm probably in the minority but I really don't like this watch. I think there are a couple of things that really clash for me.

The very full bead blasted case with very simple case geometry means it feels very blah on the wrist. This is compounded by the matte black and white color way.

The bezel click is very unsatisfying to me. 60 clicks versus the standard 120 and I'm pretty sure it's actually a polished stainless steel bezel on the titanium case.

I feel the dial to bezel ratio is off and it looks very small while feeling larger.

There's no doubt it's super competent but there's also no joy in looking at it to me. YMMV of course, it really comes down to whether you like the design.

For the same street value, I feel like there's a lot of stuff that's more fun in the Seiko, Citizen, and entry level Swiss catalogs.

One man's opinion.

I do see what you mean. It is indeed a very bland design. Just a typical diver’s watch. However, when I had it on my wrist, it fitted perfectly. I would say it fits better than any of my watches in my collection.

Yea, Seiko prices especially in he better quality tiers do definately rising up.

It is also definately a matter of taste. The watch is good, no doubt. Bu I don't feel like it is 1K good. I would recommend to be patient and look what you can find on the internet. You can easily find it for almost half price. And I guess that says all. Even Citizen doesn't take its price seriously :-).

This I found within a second here in Germany. So I bet you can find it easy for 500 dollars.

For 500 dollars it is an amazing watch. In that case you can't go wrong.

Looks a bit 62mas / sub mash up to me - but I guess all retro divers do look similar.

I'd buy for £500 , but for more I'd go Seiko. And buy used, you save a fortune!

Hi,

I actually explained it in this thread. ;-)

Here a short conclusion:

It's a great watch. Propably (in my opinion) one of the best and great looking of Citizen.

But Citizens official prices are way over reality. This watch is easy to find anywhere for around 500.

And for 500 it's an amazing watch.

Sorry, I understand, I thought it was the NB6025-59H, which does seem like more of 62MAS fighter.
