Yes, very unfortunate. I remember roughly around 6 years ago when I first got into this dangerous hobby, 6R movement Seiko’s were in the $6-700 range in Canada. These are now listed at $1425cad..

Like many that can, Seiko is pushing upmarket. Makes sense as the Swiss watchmakers last year made more money selling fewer watches. At least Seiko still sells some more affordable watches (I love my Seiko 5).

I do get a discount from the AD. Known them since I started this expensive journey. I don’t want to say it’s not worth it but for a Seiko going beyond $1k cad just gets to me for some reason. And the bezel did not even lined up! 🙈🙈🙈

I missed the boat back then and regret it.

If you can, hold out a little. There should be deals to be had. Or different models with just as many features (if not more) for the cheaper. Unless you definitely must have this one.

I asked the owner to hold it tonight for me. I will need to sleep on this. The misaligned bezel is really bothering me. You would think if they up their prices they would at least look into fixing the bezel alignments right 🤣

I was at the verge of purchasing this GMT until the moment I realized it wasn’t a screw down crown…. I do love the Seiko 5 designs. I also need screw down crowns… I swim a lot

If the bezel alignment is a concern, skip it all together. I'm sure you can find an aligning bezel on another example. Because if it bothers you now, it will bother you until you sell the watch. It might hurt not getting it right now, but it will pay in the long run.

My AD offered me 20% off the slim turtle models along with an OEM rubber strap or bracelet during Christmas last year when I was purchasing my 62mas. You can get quite good deals on these models during some festive times if you want a bigger discount.

Look if they have another piece in the store to check for an aligned model. Also personally, I have a hard time trying to find out if the bezel is lineup up because of the chamfered edge on the crystal but look for it in person if you plan to buy.

You can swim with the new Seiko 5s, they are good even without the screw down crown and just 100m WR. I never had an issue with my dressKX in the pool. But if you like snorkelling or exposing it to salt water often, I would get a Prospex.

I have a SPB313 and love it. I bought it right when it was released so no discount but my bezel alignment is spot on so they do exist. I told myself it wouldn’t matter if it didn’t but I think it would have. I’d hold out for one that aligns and I’m sure you will love the watch. I also go a uncle z199 bracelet for it and it made it even better.

I bought the SPB 333 Limited Edition and was ably to get a decent discount. So deals are out there, if you don’t mind shopping for them.
